The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Board for Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, established on 24-January-1976 under Water (Prevention and Control) Act, 1974. However, its name has been changed to Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board after the enforcement of the Air (Prevention and Control) Act 1981.
The has been entrusted with the responsibility to implement the environmental Acts and Rules, including creating a framework to ensure efficiently manage both (air and water) wastes and natural resources. In a nutshell, Andhra Pradesh Pollution Board is empowered to work under the framework of provisions of the Pollution Acts, Rules, and Amendments.
Since, environmental issues are constantly increasing - which increases the need for appropriate implementation of rules and regulation established by CPCB and other authorities. Considering the urgent need to take action to prevent and abate pollution, CPCB has established State Pollution Control Boards - with the motive to implement the environmental laws.
And one such board is Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) - it ensures the prevention, control, and abatement of pollution as prescribed by authorities. Moreover, it also has the authority to take necessary action against those who do not comply with rules and regulations.
