Scope Under IEC 60068 (Part-2,Sec-30)
IEC 60068 Part 2 Section 30 determines the suitability of components, equipment, and other articles with the purpose to use, transport, and storage under conditions of high-humidity, which is combined with the cyclic temperature changes, including producing condensation on the specimen surface.
The primary purpose to conduct the test is to determine the specimen performance when it is being transported or stored in the packaging while the packaging will be fit at the time of application of the test conditions.

Aspects Associated With IEC 60068-2-30
1. General Description
The test contains one or more temperature cycles in which the relative humidity will be maintained at the highest level. Moreover, the two identical variants of the cycle are provided, excluding the difference of temperature fall period during this part of the cycle, variant two allows wider tolerances of relative humidity, and the temperature rate falls.
2. Test Chamber – Construction Requirements
The below mentioned are the constructions requirements of the test chamber, which needs to be met –
- The temperature must be cyclically varied between 25-degree celsius +/- 3K and the relevant upper temperature prescribed by tolerance and rate of change must be done as provided in the standard.
- The relative humidity in the working space must be maintained as provided in the IEC 60068-2-30.
- It must be ensured that the conditions prevailing in the working space are uniform and are identical to that of the vicinity of appropriate located temperature and humidity sensing devices.
- The specimens placed in the chamber are not subjected to heat radiation from the chamber condition processes.
- The water used to maintain the humidity of the chamber must have resistivity of not below 500Ωm. While the condensed water needs to be constantly drained in the chamber and must not be used again unless it is re-purified. Also, proper care needs to be taken to ensure that no condensed water falls on the specimens.
- The dimensions, properties, and/ or electrical loading of the test specimen must not influence the conditions of the chamber.
3. Severities
- The combination of upper temperature and number of cycles determines the test severity.

- Upper temperature should be 40-degree celsius
Number of cycles could be 2, 6, 12, 21, and 56.
- Upper temperature should be 55-degree celsius
Number of cycles could be 1, 2, and 6.
