The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) was established under Water Act and Air Act 1981, though, Air Act was enacted later. Thereafter, with the enactment of the Air Act, the name of the Board changed to KSPCB from Karnataka State Pollution Control Board For Prevention and Control of Water Pollution.
Similar to the establishment of another State Pollution Control Board, KSPCB has been entrusted with the responsibility to prevent and control the pollution, however, before the enactment of the Air Act, the sole purpose to establish the KSPCB was to prevent and control water pollution.
Though, KSPCB is not only entrusted to ensure the implementation Water Act and Air Act, but it also enforces below-mentioned rules and regulations -
Indeed, MPCB board ensures to control, prevent, and abate the pollution with its complete power, in order to achieve established duties and functions, an industry is required to obtain Consent to Establish from the Maharashtra State Pollution Control Board.

In a nutshell, an industry creating pollution under a defined pollution score index comes under a specific industry type. To be precise, 87 industries come under the Red category; 15 under Orange category; 161 industries under Green category; and 58 under White category.
Therefore, understanding under which category your industry falls is essential to obtain a CTE/ CTO certification because the process to obtain certification could differ depending on under which category an industry falls.
