Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board was established on November 6, 1993 under Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. Later on the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 was enacted and the State Pollution Board was entrusted with more responsibilities.
